So many wonderful thoughts to ruminate on in this piece Michael. I too loved Dune Part II. It’s one of the few films I went back to the theater twice to see. Currently rereading Dune too and looking forward to my third viewing of the films soon.

Thanks Justin! 🤗 Glad I’m not alone in having seen the film in theatres more than once, haha. I recently reread the book as well! - Couldn’t resist the beautiful edition published by The Folio Society. Maybe look it up; you’ll either thank me or curse me 🙈 Enjoy your time on Arrakis! Would love to hear what you think after your third viewing of the films.

Very neat editions! I got the wider paperback set for Xmas and I’m planning to read them all this year. Will do! I enjoyed the Dune Prophecy series on HBO as well. There’s something so visually captivating about the cinematography of these shows.

What a great gift! And oooooh, I still haven’t seen Dune Prophecy but am very much looking forward to it. I’m doing that stupid thing where you delay watching/reading something you know you’ll enjoy because once you’ve engaged with it, it’s over 😆

Thanks Sophie! 🙂 Great that it connects with you! This was a fun one to put together; what a film. Are you a fan of Villeneuve’s take on Dune as well?

Yes absolutely. I mean at least I love what he's doing (I haven't read the original). His world-making is like no other's x

Agreed Sophie! The spirit of it is very faithful to the book. Turns out it wasn’t “unadaptable” after all!

I am so happy to read this, thank you! You articulated my thoughts and then took it deeper to a whole new level. I am so heartbroken that DV didn’t get nominated for Best Director- hopefully he knows we are all in his corner!

Thanks for the kind words, Kaja, and glad to hear it resonates with you! Right there with ya lamenting the DV Best Director snub… I have to believe it’s only a matter of time. Maybe for Dune: Messiah? 🤞
